This beautiful ceramic tile mural is located at the Nine Circles Community Health Centre. It was installed in 2007 to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day, an event taking place every June 21.
"Memengwa" is a girl's name meaning "butterfly". With all the butterflies depicted here, it makes sense. However, I haven't been able to find any information regarding the word "maas?natae".
The yellow tiles with "girls" in them ("In memory of the girls," "We remember you") could be referring to the thousands of missing and murdered Indigenous women across Canada.
If you have any information about the artist(s), let me know.
